In response to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Effective March 21, 2020, we have suspended operations until such time as Public Health and Government Officials determine it is appropriate to resume. We will be complying with health-based recommendations to avoid unnecessary travel to facilitate social distancing and will therefore not be reporting to the office. Please communicate urgent matters by email.
Also, please note the following items:
Effective March 20, 2020, the IRS officially extended the filing deadline for 2019 Individual Tax Returns to coincide with the recently extended payment deadline of July 15, 2020 (this extension is automatic, no action is required on your part). Proposed New Jersey legislation (NJ A 3841), would extend the filing of the State of New Jersey income taxes coincident with the federal extension of July 15, 2020. Taxpayers that have already filed their return and have scheduled an automatic withdrawal of funds on April 15, 2020 should follow these two steps (we recommend you complete the steps no later than April 10, 2020):
- Cancel the e-file payment currently due by calling the US Treasury Financial Agent at 1-888-353-4537, and
- Go to irs.gov/directpay and reschedule your payment for 7/15/2020
For tax returns that are in our possession and are being processed, we will resume preparation upon returning to the office (as noted above). If you have not yet submitted your tax documents for preparation or have been contacted by our staff concerning missing information, please use the US Post Office or other common carrier to deliver your documents to:
Joan W. Halter, CPA
70 N. Main St.
Mullica Hill, NJ 08062
You may also utilize the secure online portal, Onvio, if you have registered for an account. If you would like to register, please email us with your request.
As noted in a previous communication, completed returns have been sent to you via the US Postal Service, Priority Mail. Once you have received your completed return, reviewed it and are in agreement with it, please:
Return the State and Federal E-File Authorization Forms (Form 8879 and the State equivalent) to our office along with payment for our services. As operations resume we will continue E-Filing completed returns with executed Form 8879s and payment. During the shut-down of the office we will be unable to process credit card payments.
As operations resume we will be communicating with Clients via email, please continue to monitor your email for updates. We look forward to re-establishing communications in the near future. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Please remain healthy and safe during this unprecedented period.
Our best wishes to you and your families,
